In South korea English education, multimedia has affected the teaching method in many ways. The Elementary English curriculum recommends teachers to use multimedia to develop student's English proficiency. There has been an increase in the availability of advanced technologies such as computers, CD-ROM multimedia, and the Internet due to a considerable amount of investment in schools over years.
Multimedia class materials and equipments can be used as a means of improving student's English proficiency. Many Korean students can not have chances of speaking English outside of their classrooms because Our country is EFL situation(English as foreign Language) and we don't have enough qualified teachers for teaching primary school English. Therefore, we need multimedia class materials and equipments for English education.
Fortunately, South korea has many wifi Zone,fast and easy to accesible internet and My school has has Electronic white board, tablet PC, Digital textbook etc. IF you would like to see this, try to contact my school website "http://www.chopyong.es.kr" I have been teaching my English class using CD contain class materials for listening, speaking, reading, writing, activity, role-play, song, and chant, and so on.
CD-ROM materials have developed in balance in terms of grades and children's characteristics. Also they have changed to be classified into smaller units, so that teachers can easily search for.
In my opnion, multimedia equipments for English education should be managed and updated continually according to the changing curriculum and instructional multimedia material. We need administrative support and concerns about multimedia English class for maximum benefit in classroom.
